Yang Statue
Zbrush + Marvelous Designer
This was just an exercise in integrating Marvelous Designer cloth simulation with Zbrush sculpting. I thought his campaign might be interested in 3D printing it as a promotional material, but when I reached out they just responded with a monetary donation request :/
But in terms of the project, it turns out making a man’s suit in Marvelous is pretty tricky and that helped make it a great exercise to learn the software. After learning how a suit is actually constructed, and how to make the various layers of it not explode in Marvelous, there was still the issue of exporting it out in a way that was really useful for a practical workflow and pipeline with other software like Zbrush and Maya. I was able to develop a very strong method to export out to Maya so it could be easily bound to a rig and posed, and then out to Zbrush for additional sculpting. I could also easily update it with changes made in Marvelous, without having to redo any weight painting. The workflow also made it simple to blendshape between various poses generated in Marvelous, in order to create the appearance of simulated cloth deformation on a realtime character model.
